The Literary Arts Series moves back to Benaroya Hall with a bang featuring new faces and old favorites including fan favorite Ann Patchett, justice advocate Bryan Stevenson, and rising star Helen Oyeyemi. The Poetry Series highlights some of the most cutting-edge voices in verse including top shelf soul Ada Limón, Poet of praise, Ellen Bass, and daring lyricist Carl Phillips.

The second season of SAL's Women You Need to Know (WYNK) Series brings fiery perspective from women at the top of their fields including pioneer performance artist Marina Abramović, fierce feminist, Roxane Gay and Pulitzer Prize-winning TV critic for The New Yorker, Emily Nussbaum. SAL Presents features another evening of laugh-out-loud inspiration with The Moth Mainstage, and mustachioed Renaissance funny-man Nick Offerman.

SAL is thrilled to introduce a brand new series, Sherman Alexie Loves. In partnership with novelist, poet, and playwright Sherman Alexie, this series will feature three evenings of conversation with authors Alexie loves. The series opens with star of stage and screen Bryan Cranston and his forthcoming memoir A Life In Parts, a coming-of-age story and meditation on creativity and craft. This series will also feature a live taping of Alexie and Jess Walter's podcast "A Tiny Sense of Accomplishment" with Karen Russell and friends. The series will conclude with an exciting evening of new work with three of Alexie's favorite debut novelists: Patricia Park (Re Jane), Ariel Schrag (ADAM), and Sunil Yapa (Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of Your Fist).

Camp WITS Registration Is Now Open!

Join us for the inaugural year of Camp WITS: Writers in the Summer, part of our WITS (Writers in the Schools) program. Camp WITS will consist of two weeks of half-day creative writing workshops that focus on a range of genres and techniques, open to students entering 2nd through 12th grades.

Camp WITS: Writers in the Summer
July 25 – August 5
Grades 2-12

Camp WITS brings the inspiring and accomplished Seattle writers who teach comics, stories and poems in public schools throughout the year to the light-filled rooms of the School of Visual Concepts in downtown Seattle. Camp attendees will learn new ways to express their own authentic voices, join a community of young writers from across the city, create letterpress portfolios for their new work and end the camps with a celebratory reading open to family and friends.

Camp WITS is open to all experience levels and abilities, from new to seasoned writers. Sessions are taught by two acclaimed WITS Writers-In-Residence and are limited to 20 students each.
